Q.
May I mail a service-member that I don't know a letter or care package?
A.
The Department of Defense cannot accept items mailed to "any service-member."
Because of security and transportation concerns the Department of
Defense is presently only accepting mail addressed to specific service-members.
Some people may believe that sending a large number of packages
to one individual service-member's address may be a good way to
circumvent this restriction. Although the intention is well placed,
doing this may slowdown or clog the mail system, and delay packages
sent by families to their loved ones stationed overseas.
Q. In
what other ways may I support our troops?
A.
In lieu of sending a letter or package to our service-members, there
are numerous other ways you can show your support for the men and
women serving our country overseas. While we do not endorse any
specific group or organization, we have included several options
that you may wish to consider:
